Types of fencing? wood vs vinyl vs chain link vs aluminium?

i have to replace a fence .. i was thinking vinyl .. maintence free is attractive for me.. chain link doesn't give enough privacy for where i want it .. wood well you have to paint or stain so theres up keep always .. and aluminium looks cheap from what i seen .. whats your thoughts? thanks in advance :)

It may depend on your neighborhood and what your HOA allows, where I live it's governed by an HOA so I can only replace my wood fence with the same kind that's there now. As far as the type of fence you want, there are many nice wood fences, but composite material is more durable and looks alot like wood maybe you can look into that

    Sounds like vinyl will be your best option. I've never liked the look of it personally (I prefer wood), but maintaining a wood fence is a lot of work. Chain link can be improved with the addition of vinyl slats or strategically-placed climbing plants. Aluminum is actually less work than vinyl... the vinyl will fade and crack eventually from the sunlight.

    Another option might be a hedge or shrub, but that can be a lot of work too. It sounds like you have your heart set on vinyl so go for it.
