Which color goes with wood?

All colors go with wood.

But is your closet well lit? That might help determine the color. What is your floor color?

Dark Blues, or Dark and Light Browns, Mixed Greens but bright and lumo colours dont mix good with wood.

Your personal taste has to rule but go online to various sites for e.g. paint brands. They give access to programs where you can put your colours in and see the results instantly. Of course they are using colour schemes for a room. If your preference runs to darker, more dramatic colours... you could brighten the area by using some mirror in the background or on the shelves themselves (most of it would be covered when you stock your closet but glints would show). There are some very neat, low voltage LED light available which you could install.... like minature pot-lights. They are very "today" accents.

It will depend on the tones of the wood, however you decide to stain it. For instance - the warm reddish tones of mahogany or cherry might work better with a red that would pick up those undertones, or a pleasing contrast like a sage green. Then again, the cooler lighter tones of pine or oak might work better with blue. If you go that route - steer clear of the dark blue with dark wood - it wouldn't give you sufficient contrast, and the two dark colors would probably fight against each other.

The lighting will make a difference as well.

I would suggest you go ahead and install your shelving system, stain it however you wish, and THEN bring in color samples to decide what is the most pleasing. Just remember to go for a nice contrast to showcase all your hard work, and be sure the undertones of the stained wood and the paint complement each other. When in doubt - go to a professional paint center (like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore or Glidden) rather than a Home Depot or Lowe's. Take a sample of your wood and any fabrics or other pieces in the room that will be affected by the wall color, and ask for a color expert's advice. Just remember to test what they suggest in the lighting it will actually be used in....the way the colors interact together WILL vary from store to daylight to home.....but at least the color expert can point you in the right direction.

depends on the staining, Because staining changes what species of wood the wood can look like to the untrained eye, red staining looks like cherry, golden color, more like oak or pine, and a brown looks like a maple.

If you like Red, go with a Cherry stain, and use red tones, Red is a sensual color, it also makes you feel hungry. Other colors (Orange, Peanut butter, Mediterranean colors, and dusty browns, dusty roses). Again red, is a sensual color, that promotes elegance, and excitement.

If you go with a Blue, stick with lighter colored shelves, because the contrast would look great, blue clashes with red, a red stain would not be a good idea. an ocean blue, goes with a natural stain, or a light brown stain, although this may give a beach like feeling, but the area will most defiantly feel more spacious than a red. Airy and breathable. Blue promotes happiness, and tranquility, (other colors, other shades of blue, greens, stick with shaded colors, bright colors, will make it look more like a children's clothing store)

I have yet to find a color that does not match with wood. Wood is natural, so any color will match it. So... guess you get to choose the color that pleases you the most!
