It needs to be a cheap wood but a effective and strong one.
I dont know much about woods and how to make it waterproof and which woods are most suitable for outdoors.

CEDAR wood its weatherproof.thats why most are made of cedar.it very nice color anyways.

- Something untreated.
Pine is fine, but untreated pine. Then marine ply as a better choice, but untreated again.
Take it down at the end of the season and wash it inside with hot water.0% 0 Votes - Cedar is nice to work with and will withstand the weather very well will last for years, perhaps you could get some offcuts cheaply from your local timber yard. You could always use Birds Eye Maple!0% 0 Votes
