What to Look for in Wood Frames

Picture frames are ultimately selected based on your personal taste and preference. There are a few aspects about wood frames that set them apart from metal frames, and you will want to be familiar with those prior to choosing picture frames for your cherished artwork. Wood frames are often used as the framing material of choice when the artwork you wish to frame is a painting. It offers a depth and warmth not to be found in a metal frame, and adds to the overall effect of the piece of artwork that you wish to display on your wall.

Wood frames can be narrow or wide in width, and can be ornately carved, gilded, painted or stained in any shade or tone you desire. Because of this flexibility, it works well with colorful paintings. Because of these features, a wood picture frame often makes a suitable choice for a painting that will be hung in your home.

Unless you live in a sleek modern style penthouse, your home may lean more toward country or cottage furnishings; thus, a warmer style of frame is in order for the artwork to blend in with their surroundings pleasingly. In contrast, traditionally metal frames are used in photography galleries, where several different pieces are on display at once. The gallery wants the viewers to focus on the photographs and not the frames, so consequently they frame these pieces in thin black metal frames, using a wide-width white mat board to draw the eye to the center of the frame where the photograph lies. However, in a home setting that offers more in decor than just artwork, a wood picture frame can be used so that the art fits into its surroundings well, and does not stick out as it might in a sleek metal frame. Picture frames can be purchased as a custom made or ready made picture frame.

Custom picture frames are wonderful, in that you get to choose the exact molding you wish used, and the frame is sized to perfectly fit your artwork, regardless of its size. However, that perfection does come with a higher price tag. Many artists find a wealth of beautiful possibilities by using a ready made picture frame. If you have a great deal of art to frame, these picture frames offer a cost effective way to do so. The picture frames also tend to be readily in stock, because they are offered in popular standard sizes. Ready made wood frames are offered in several colors and many sizes, so that they, along with the mat board you select, will make your artwork stand out in your home and draw the eye to it.

Laminar Flow Hood HEPA DIY?
Hello I'm trying to build my own Laminar flow hood and for sterile petri dish work. I have found a few tutorials on how to build one. It's pretty much just a HEPA Filter that can catch small particles that would contaminate your work. I found this pretty cheap filter online and I'm just wondering if it is will filter out contamination. Here is a link to the filter i was looking at the Wood Frame HEPA Filters 78mm Thick H14 http://www.jasunfiltration.com/acatalog/Wood_Frame_Laminar_Flow_HEPA.html I was looking at the spec's for it in this PDF http://www.jasunfiltration.com/acatalog/LR_ULTIMA_MPW78.PDF Filters global efficiency % 99.995 Local efficiency %99.975 I read somewhere that you want a filter that is %99.995 or %99.999. Would this filter still work for clean petri dish work? Also if i can use this filter i need to match a blower that can push air through the filter at about 100 feet per minute(fpm). I was going to purchase the Ultima MPW78 H14 Wood Case 24 x 12 Ref: LG04SU00 I just need to know how many cfm = "cubic feet per minute" for the blower i would need to purchase that would push through the filter at about 100 feet per minute(fpm) for laminar flow. I see a formula that can be used to determine how but i suck at math so if someone could help me out on that also that would be awesome! I would be using a 24 x 12 and heres the formula - ------------------------------- the air speed of the air flowing from the filter surface should be (at least) 100 feet per minute(fpm).(around 30 meter per minute or 0.5 meter per second). Determining the correct blower for a filter consists of several steps: 1. Find out the area of your filter by multiplying the width and the hight in feet (for instance the smallest reasonably usable filter would be 2ft x 1ft) 2ft x 1ft = 2 ft2 2. Multiply the required air speed(the one Stamets specifies, 100 ft/min) with the area of your filter 100 ft/min x 2 ft2 = 200 ft3/min So 200 ft3/min(= cfm = "cubic feet per minute") is the amount of air your blower must deliver at the sum of the STATIC PRESSURE of the HEPA filter + prefilter. NOTE: 1 cfm= 1.7m3/h ------------------------------------------ Thanks!

How can I place a plexiglass triangle into wood?
I'd like to make a beer pong table that has LED's underneath the cups so the cups glow. That's it; My first idea was to make a wood frame and lay one large plexiglass on top, and light certain things from underneath; the problem is, an 8 foot by 2 foot plexiglass is over $100. My next idea is to have a wooden table top, cut the triangles out and put smaller plexiglass into there. So whats the best way to get the plexiglass nested inside of the wood? Or, can anybody suggest a more efficient way to get LED's underneath the cups? For reference, I'm slightly looking for this kind of effect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRRqBMl-8yI (Referencing to the triangles, not the really nice wood work)

please HELP ME answer this math question!?
Here are the questions they're a little long. By the way I'm in algebra 1. 1. Ellie is making an abstract triangular collage for the wall. She has 14 feet of edging to go around the collage. If the longest side is twice the smallest and the other side is four less than three times the smallest, find the length of each side of the triangular collage. 2. Gilligan found 52 feet of board on the island and decided to build a triangular garden and fence it in using all the board. Only one spot on the island would have enough sunlight to grow a good garden. If the largest side must be 4 more than four times the smallest and the other side three times the smallest, how long will each side be. 3. Sue is replacing the wood frame around the rectangular window in her kitchen. The width of the window is eight less than three times the height. The total amount of wood needed to go around the window frame is 272 inches. What is the width and height of the window? Thank you for answering

Roughly how much does it cost to separate utilities?
I just bought a single family home that was converted into a duplex, but all the utilities ( water electric etc.) are still over the whole house, not split. I want to rent out one side, so I want to split them. Roughly what is the range this could cost? My house is roughly 850 sq ft, wood frame, one story. I don't believe there is gas.
