Wood Platform Bed
The Benefits of Wood Platform Beds
Wood platform beds are beds that have no box spring and are made out of wood. Platform beds are great for complementing any décor, but are especially well suited for rooms that are going for a simple feel. When these beds are made out of wood, the effect is that much more grounding. The proliferation of feng shui ideals have made platform beds a high demand item among those going for a Japanese or Zen like energy in their home. The low physical profile of wood platform beds go very well with other low set furniture such as low coffee tables, dressers, and other bedroom furnishings.
Wood platform beds can be made out of any kind of wood. The most popular are cherry, teak, rosewood, mahogany, maple, dark walnut, pecan, honey oak and others. Any wood platform bed frame can be made of a lesser wood, or even particleboard, and then overlain with the veneer of a higher quality wood. That way, you can get whatever feel you are going for, without spending the necessary thousands of dollars for the real thing.
However, if you are the one who just can not seem to forget that the veneer is just a mask for a lesser wood, you will have to shell out for the real thing.
Wood platform beds take on a wide variety of sizes and forms. You can obtain any size bed from a single or twin, double or full, to a queen, king, super king, or California king. These beds can simply be flat surfaces or sets of slats on legs, or they can be full on beds with headboard, foot board, and canopy. They can have simple, clean lines, or they can boast more of a flourish and sweep.

question about the BED frame / furniture ?
I've never bought a bed myself and I'm not very knowledgeable about it, but I felt this bed looked all right (see link below). If I get a "full size" of this bed, would it be okay for someone who is around 5'10" tall? If not what size would be good enough?
Also, what does "unfinished" mean? Does it have to be finished in order to use it properly or not? Where can I get it done at?

What colors match Cappuccino colored bed?
I recently just bought a new bed (http://www.everythingfurniture.com/life-bdrm-set-3.html?utm_campaign=NexTag&utm_medium=Comparison&utm_source=NXT_EF&utm_term=LIFE-RTR-BDRM-SET-3-P)
It is a modern wood platform bed and the color is a cappuccino, or really dark brown. I have to now look for the sheets and comforter for this, as well as a desk. Can any of you help me on selecting a color that will match, but maintain a modern style. I was thinking of just getting sheets like the ones in the model picture, however I don't want it ending up too plain. I am also thinking of painting my room as well, so a whole color scheme I'm also interested in.
Like I said, I am also looking for a modern desk that will match this. If anyone has any ideas or any help, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

Contemporary Bedroom design help?
Hi. I am designing a contemporary bedroom for about a 9x8ish room. However, I am stuck. I will for sure have a black glass top/metal frame contemporary computer table and will have a black wood platform bed. Basicallly, all my furnuture will be black. However, I am confused about the color of the walls. I really want the room to look sleek, but I am not sure how to do it. I was thinking of painting the walls white and the trim black, and then having red accents. Is this a good idea? How much red should I use? If not what color should the walls be? Should they be red, white, black, or gray? What about the carpet and trim? ALL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPREATED!!!!! Thanks!
